What happens during my treatment?

What to expect during orthodontics treatment at Smiling Molar Dental depends on the type of treatment you undergo:

Traditional braces

Your dentist bonds brackets to your teeth and attaches wires to them to slowly shift the teeth into a desirable alignment over time. You attend dental visits periodically throughout treatment, which may last about 1-2 years, to have the wires tightened. After you complete treatment with braces, your dentist removes the brackets and wires. 

Invisalign

The first step of Invisalign treatment is for your dentist to digitally scan your teeth and mouth. This allows a dental lab to create custom-fitted clear plastic aligners that fit comfortably over your teeth. 

When the aligners are ready, you wear them 20-22 hours daily and switch to the next set of aligners in the series every 1-2 weeks. The average Invisalign treatment takes 12-18 months. 

What should I expect after orthodontics treatment?

After you complete orthodontics treatment at Smiling Molar Dental, you may wear a retainer for a specific period of time to keep your teeth properly aligned. Your dentist might recommend you wear a removable retainer or they can bond a permanent retainer to the back of your teeth so it’s not visible.
